In Caesarea there lived a Centurion named Cornelius who was captain of the Italian regiment. We don’t know much about him other than he was a devout God fearing man who gave generously and prayed regularly. His whole household followed Jesus. I think there is something in that. Namely our generosity affects our house! Starting today we begin to take up our Heart for the House offering. At Life Christian Church we have modelled our H4H offering off the first fruits offering practised first in the Bible and now by believers everywhere. The bible writers didn’t say much about Cornelius but chose to mention his generosity and his household. Cornelius had a generous God fearing house.
That is why I love our Heart for the House offering. I believe we have a generous God fearing church! H4H gives me a moment in time every year to take stock of my faith and ask God to increase it. I get the opportunity to build the strength, influence and ministry of our church in a way that totally honours Jesus. Another thing that H4H does is reminds me it’s a team sport. One of the greatest joys we can get in this life is to join with other members of our church family and accomplish something powerful that not one of us could have accomplished alone. This offering each year gives our church tremendous momentum into our vision. Nothing else we do delivers the Kingdom go forward of H4H and I want to be part of that. Probably my favourite part however are the stories of God intervention into people’s lives when they step out in faith and do something big for God. It never ceases to amaze me each year to see how God answers, enlarges and blesses those who truly step out in faith. I want that to be my story, I want to grow my Heart for the House.
