2018 is a new year. Some can’t wait to see the back of 2017 and others will look back with a sense of satisfaction and achievement. One achievement for Leah and I was to make the final payment on our home loan in 2017! No matter what 2017 brought to each one of us, it offered us all a chance to learn and to grow. If life is about becoming closer to and more like our Saviour, every one of us had that opportunity in 2017. What we did with that opportunity will determine how 2018 starts. 2017 is gone. 2018 is here.
The great thing about a new year is it can feel like a clean slate. A new year is another opportunity to chase your dreams and take hold of opportunities. I think that is why we love to make new year’s resolutions. Very few of us keep all our resolutions but good intentions are better than no intentions! I always aim to change something in the new year. I try to grow in a certain area, curb a bad habit or try something new. I am not always successful with my resolutions but I love to think that I can continue to learn and grow. Why not take a moment to think of the thing that bugs you the most in your life and work out one thing you can do to change that situation. Write that thing on your phone right now!!! Some of the last words of the Apostle Peter were that we continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Saviour (2 Peter 3:18). If we were to have a new years resolution, you could not find one better than that. Lets make 2018 a year we commit to grow. It’s a new day. Let’s make a commitment to grow together.
