Last week in this column we looked at how God wants to bless us and help us build the indestructible life. It is God’s greatest pleasure to see His kids doing well. With the Armour of God as listed in Ephesians Chapter 6 Jesus has given us every resource to not only stand our ground but push back the darkness in our world and in the worlds of people around us. A person of faith can never say I don’t have the resource to do life amazing, we just fail to trust God enough to deploy the amazing resources at our fingertips. That’s why Proverbs 3: 5 says ‘Trust in the Lord with all your Heart and lean not on your own understanding if you want your path to be straight.’ That is difficult! Too often we default to our understanding instead of Gods truth.
I think one of the reasons we do that is we are focused on the wrong enemy. We forget about the spiritual realm. We can sometimes think that our battles are fought in the physical realm. The Apostle Paul is clear; our battle isn’t against flesh & blood (people in this world) we fight and win our battles in the spiritual realm! The truly spiritual person realises there is a real enemy of God set on enslaving all of us to wrong thinking and empty desires. When we realise the source of our displeasure isn’t people it’s the devil it’s easy to combat because we get a new appreciation of the armour that God has supplied us all with. All of a sudden we realise it is our dedication to unlocking God’s truth for ourselves from the Bible and getting to know Jesus through communicating (which we call prayer) that changes things for us in the physical realm. A person in War Mode will be disciplined in the spiritual realm to reap the rewards in the physical realm. Jesus already won the battle for us. That means the spoils of victory are already available. They are available for the Christ follower in War Mode!
